milan - burberry prorsum - fall/winter 2008

BURBERRY PRORSUM

when christopher bailey sticks to his guns and doesn't feel the need to try too hard to please too many audiences, he can't fail. his ability to upstand the burberry tradition and infuse it with the right amount of humor and english eccentricty has always been the secret to his success. and after last seasons disappointing collection, he more than redeemed himself with his most recent presentation that captured the youthfulness that was absent last spring. while last season concentrated on a more body conscious silhouette, this time around saw the designer experimenting with proportions again. taking similar elements from his menswear collection, bailey presented slim menswear inspired jackets paired with slim pants that flared out and knee lenght bubble coats over short mini dresses. there was definately that aristocratic slightly bohemian touch in this collection that culminated into dresses made of tiered feathers and fringed suede leaves that upped the luxury aspect of the clothes. and of course this wouldn't be a burberry show without one jaw dropping trench, this one in fox fur cut out and re-appliqued to resemble chinchilla.
